How to Celebrate Easter on a Budget

As Nigerians would say: “Money slow to enter, but e quick to go”. It is pretty easy to spend your hard-earned money in a whiff and you start looking for money “that did not lost”.

But you know what! You can enjoy a memorable Easter without spending “eggxtravagantly”. All it takes is a little planning and a few fresh ideas for fun activities that won’t make you break the bank.

Try these money-saving tips to celebrate this Easter on a tight budget:

1. Watch your favourite TV shows

Binge-watch your favourite TV shows with friends and family. Renew your Cable TV as well as electricity on Remita to enjoy your preferred series or shows.

2. Eat before you go out. Remember that there’s rice at home 😂

Outside is expensive. If you must go out, eat something before going.

3. Re-use what you have

It’s a lot easier to celebrate Easter on a budget if you commit to reusing everything you have. You don’t need to buy new Easter outfits every year. Who are you trying to impress? Instead, consider reusing what is in your wardrobe.

4. Set a budget (Do this before Easter)

Make a list, considering your financial capacity. Then, decide your spending limit on gifts, food, and whatever else you think you would need. And be sure you stick to your budget – it’s the indicator of what you can and cannot afford. You can spend based on your savings, or set aside some amount from your current funds. If you plan early enough, you'll have the freedom to save a bit more.

5. Shop sales

A good way to celebrate Easter on a budget is to make sure you are shopping sales. There will be lots of discount sales and promos during the holiday; do well to take advantage of them.

6. Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses

Easter is a low-maintenance holiday (Yes, we said it. 😂). It has lots of fun with very little time for preparation. Our advice? Don’t set your expectations so high. Social media is great, but it can cause you to over-celebrate and focus too much on details that don’t really matter.

You can have a wonderful Easter without blowing up your budget by simply choosing not to “keep up with the joneses”. Just because Jane on social media throws a party every day for the week leading up to Easter, doesn’t mean that you need to do that.

And most importantly, make Easter more about your heart and less about things. Also stay connected with friends and family when you buy Airtime, Data, renew your Cable TV subscription and top up your Electricity on Remita.
